Man United planning to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens. The club is eyeing the young Belgian talent as part of a major squad rebuild this summer.
United Eyes Goalkeeper Senne Lammens as Onana Replacement
Manchester United have reportedly begun talks with Belgian side Royal Antwerp over a deal to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Andre Onana is set to miss Red Devils‘ US tour and possibly even the start of the new Premier League season against Arsenal. Now, head coach Ruben Amorim wants to ensure his side has a reliable option going in goal.
Lammens enjoyed his breakout year last season. He was one of the most exciting young keepers in Europe. He made 173 saves in 41 appearances for Antwerp last campaign. That also includes 10 clean sheets, and this shows his good consistency and reliability as their number one keeper.
Amorim already has changes planned for the goalkeeping unit. Backup keeper Altay Bayindir is also having his issues. Talks are said to be progressing around a £17m fee. Meanwhile, Lammens is under contract until 2027. That gives Utd a long-term option if the deal gets done.
Young Talent with Big Match Experience
Lammens’ path to success has been fast and incredible. Leaving Club Brugge for Antwerp in 2023, he arrived in his new team with purpose. His mobility and strong hands make him a natural fit for the Premier League.
He has also scored an incredible equaliser while at Club Brugge in the UEFA Youth League against Real Madrid. That moment gave a glimpse of his windshield calmness. That is something fans would like to see at Old Trafford.
With Leeds and Sunderland also showing interest, Utd will need to act fast. Antwerp’s recent signing of Japanese goalkeeper Taishi Brandon Nozawa hints that they are preparing for Lammens’ exit. Lammens could now become the next piece of the puzzle for Man Utd.
With another campaign ahead the Red Devils will be hoping this young man from Belgium can deliver some much needed defensive stability.
