West Ham in competition to sign the next Jude Bellingham

West Ham

As the 2023–24 season ends, West Ham seems to continue improving under Julen Lopetegui as they secure 9th in the PL. Despite having European success, West Ham finished 14th in the Premier League during the 2022–23 season. The Hammers have grown uphill since securing Conference League gold last season. With Declan Rice departing the club last season, they now look to sign the potentially next Jude Bellingham.

The Spanish manager has already lined up his target signings for next season, with Brazilian center-back Bruno on the list. They are also looking to sign Portuguese winger Jota to further bolster their attack. However, the Hammers are aiming to bring in young and fresh talent. One of their targets is the next Jude Bellingham and Birmingham City star, Jordan James. The young midfielder has been a sensation to watch in the EFL League One and is one of the main players of his club. His outstanding understanding of the game and positioning on the field has led him to being compared to the Madrid Star,

Despite the club facing relegation, James has managed to capture the attention of multiple top-tier clubs. Atalanta and Leicester City are a few of the clubs that have shown interest in the player as well. His ability to help the team in multiple difficult situations has made him a target for these clubs. The youngster also bagged eight goals in his 42 appearances last season. Along with being offensive, he has also served as a defensive assistant on multiple occasions, especially during corners. His Tall frame helps him gain the unfair advantage over opponents, especially during aerial situations.

Can West Ham match with the Big Bids?

It will be a task for West Ham to compete with big clubs like Atlanta and Leicester City. Atalanta will be playing Champions League football next season. They also ended the unbeaten run of Xabi Alonso Bayern Leverkusen in the Europa League by defeating them 3-0 in the final and spoiling the party for an unbeaten Treble. Atlanta was praised heavily on social media for their triumph over the German champions.

Leicester City have also just won the EPL Championship and gained promotion back into the Premier League by collecting 97 points. Jamie Vardy and his men will be very pleased to welcome the young midfielder, considering the departure of James Madison last season. The English midfielder left King Power stadium to go and play at Tottenham’s White Heart Lane.

West Ham will have to spend a huge amount of money to convince the youngster to join them over these two big clubs. It will be interesting to see if James decides to stay in England or if he will look to develop and test himself overseas. Many fans want him to stay in England and test himself in the best league in the world. Some might want him to go to Italy and push himself out of his home environment. British players are more known for staying in the English football pyramid. A very small number of players leave England and go abroad to continue their football careers. David Beckham and Jude Bellingham are amongst the list of such players.

The hammers will be under a lot of pressure when placing their bid. Revenue generated from recent success will surely play an assisting role in hopefully completing this transfer. They will definitely be looking to play European football again. This will play a key role in motivating them to purchase important players and add them to their growing squad in the near future. They will be looking to better themselves in the next season.
