Chelsea winger Tyrique George in talks over summer loan move

Tyrique George may be shifting — but not away from Chelsea future plans. The 19-year-old winger, highly-rated and showing glimpses of brilliance in his breakthrough season, now looks set to spend the 2025/26 season out on loan.

Club insiders say Blues chiefs are actively considering a temporary deal to guarantee regular first-team football for one of their best young forwards.

Development on track, but minutes may shrink

George made 26 senior outings in all competitions last term, netting 3 times and setting up 5, including a memorable Premier League goal against Fulham. His prodigious pace, willingness to back himself in 1v1s, and composure in front of goal have seen him endear himself to the supporters and become a standout from the academy line.

But Chelsea’s squad is starting to get a bit tight. The arrivals of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Dortmund and Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, who both became official Chelsea players this summer, have increased competition for wide attacking roles. Chelsea are also still linked with Xavi Simons, which only serves to complicate the route for promising wingers like George.

Enzo Maresca wants a small, intense squad for his first campaign and he believes there is value in sending George out to play regularly, at a good level – ideally in the Premier League or with a strong Championship team.

Chelsea engage in loan talks, final decision expected soon.

Chelsea have yet to settle on a destination but discussions have begun with a number of interested clubs. The transaction would be a simple loan, with no buy clause, confirming the fact that Tyrique George is very much part of Chelsea’s future.

He continues first-team training during pre-season, with Chelsea set to make a final call before the new league campaign. Chelsea are desperate to make sure his development stays on track in the correct surroundings – and all possibilities are still on the table.
