Seven Man United Legends Nominated for 2025 Hall of Fame

The Premier League has announced its 2025 Hall of Fame nominees, and seven names with Man United connections are in contention. The shortlist, revealed on 8 September 2025, gives fans the chance to vote for two inductees until 15 September, with the winners to be revealed at a ceremony in London on 4 November. It is a celebration of footballing excellence and recognition for careers that defined an era.

The Seven Man United-Linked Nominees

The ex-Reds on the 15-man list showcase United’s dominance across two decades.

  • Michael Carrick – Winner of five league titles and with a reputation as a midfield class act.
  • Patrice Evra – 379 appearances, five titles, and a hero to the supporters.
  • Gary Neville – The ultimate one-club man with eight Premier League medals.
  • Michael Owen – Remembered more for his time at Liverpool but lifted the title at Old Trafford in 2010/11.
  • Teddy Sheringham – Treble winner, 2001 PFA Player of the Year and first televised PL goalscorer.
  • Edwin van der Sar – Four championship seasons of safe and steady work in front of goal.
  • Nemanja Vidic – Inspirational captain, five cups, the rock who struck fear into any striker.

The Bigger Picture

The 15-strong full shortlist includes Premier League greats such as David Silva, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas. Between them, the nominees can claim 44 league titles, more than 5,000 appearances and over a 1,000 goals. The inductees will receive a customised medallion medal and a donation of £10,000 will also be made to a charity of their choice, reflecting a commitment to community of football.

Author’s Opinion

United’s inclusion in this list simply highlights the clubs historical impact on the Premier League era. However there is an ever increasing outcry against what has become permament enmity from Ryan Giggs —with 13 titles on his mantlepiece, still asserting his claim as the league’s top provider— fans referred to the situation as “criminal”. While the current nominees are deserving, the Hall of Fame will not feel complete until Giggs is recognised and properly honoured.
