Having been a player himself, Jamie Carragher knows very well the alphabet soup of the game. Now, on TV, Carragher was talking about a player who just is not up to Manchester United standards. “This guy hasn’t been very good at all,” Carragher assesses. He went on to say that he really doesn’t see much “ability” in the guy. Ouch!
What So Does “Ability” Mean?
“Ability” is the degree of proficiency somebody demonstrates in a given field of endeavor. I really consider myself an excellent drawer and thus say I have drawing ability. One who plays soccer well is said to have soccer ability. So Carragher was saying the player in question simply was not exhibiting enough artistry or skill on the playing field. It is almost like trying to build a LEGO castle, and the blocks keep coming apart. It is very frustrating!
Why the News About This Player?
The Manchester United management was convinced that the player was going to score an alarming number of goals and assist in winning matches.
