Arsenal do not want to be drawn into a transfer saga over Premier League striker

Arsenal

According to the Independent, Arsenal do not want to be drawn into a transfer saga over Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Gunners reportedly have set a price they would be prepared to pay for the Sweden international.

Isak has impressed with his development at Newcastle. He joined the magpies from Real Sociedad two years ago in a big money move.

Arsenal have certainly been looking for a striker for quite some time now. And Gunners boss Arteta feels the 24-year-old is the perfect man for his team, and he is the striker needed at the Emirates.

Newcastle not desperate to sell Isak

Newcastle are under pressure due to the Premier League’s PSR rules. It’ll be hard for them to raise funds this summer if they want to make signings of their own.

The Magpies are reluctant to sell Isak to Arsenal and are expected to offer him a new contract. However, if the Swede pushes to go then Newcastle’s hands could be tied.

It is claimed that Arsenal have settled upon a price they would be prepared to pay for Isak. The Gunners certainly do not want to be drawn into a back and forth transfer saga as they seek to sign the striker.

Arsenal also have other options if move for Isak doesn’t materialize

Isak has proven himself in the Premier League. This season, the striker has 20 goals in 27 appearances in the league.

This is the most important metric that PL clubs have to keep in mind. We have seen a lot of top players dominate in other leagues but fail to replicate the same in the English Premier League. Its certainly hard to adjust to life in the English top flight and someone who has proved himself in England is worth his weight in gold.

Whatever price Arsenal have in mind for Isak, it surely won’t be a small sum. The Gunners understandably want to avoid a transfer saga. But if that still happens, Arsenal are prepared to move on from Isak and focus on other targets on their striker shortlist. Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic continues to be mooted as a target.
