Arsenal set an asking price of £35 million for Folarin Balogun

Folarin Balogun

Arsenal ‘s asking price for a hot striker is already scaring off interested parties. Folarin Balogun’s loan season with Stade Reims has been described as magnificent. The Arsenal youngster has been so good that we can’t get enough of him.

Arsenal demands a sky-high price for Balogun

With 18 goals in 31 appearances, the 21-year-old is now among Ligue 1’s top scorers, and if he scores again, he will overtake Glen Hoddle’s record for most goals scored by an Englishman in a single campaign in the French league.

With Balogun’s rising star, many are wondering whether Arsenal will want to keep him or sell him for a profit. Balogun’s role in Arteta’s plan is in doubt. Arteta’s first-choice striker is Gabriel Jesus, who is capably deputised by Eddie Nketiah. Hence with Leandro Trossard also an option in attack, there are also speculations that Arteta is looking to bring in another physical striker. Arsenal is anticipated to seek at least £35 million in addition to add-ons if they sell Balogun. According to Goal, RB Leipzig, who were thought to be leading the way in the race to sign the much hyped Arsenal player, are considering withdrawing from the competition since the asking price is too high. With Leipzig out, others are likely to follow the same.

Potential suitors might lose interest owing to Balogun’s high price

According to Sky Sports’ Philipp Hinze,

“RB Leipzig will not pursue Folarin Balogun this summer if Arsenal insists on a transfer cost of €40 million (£35.5 million) plus add-ons.”

The striker wants to be a first-choice striker for Arsenal next season, and he’d be delighted to achieve it. But, since that is doubtful, a permanent transfer appeals to him. Balogun has no grudge against Arsenal, but with AC Milan, Inter Milan, Marseille, and AS Monaco reportedly joining Leipzig in the race and providing starts, he is clearly urging the club to make a decision.

That’s great news for Gunners hoping the Hale End Graduate gets a chance to establish himself at Arsenal. But who knows, some club might come out of nowhere and pay the high asking price. Balogun has a large number of supporters.
