Atletico Madrid looking to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal. The Defending La Liga Champions are preparing to reignite their interest in Arsenal Striker. Atletico Madrid failed to land the French Attacker into their Team in 2017. However, the Spanish giants are all set to compete against Top Europeans Clubs to register his signature this summer.

The 30-year-old has found his way back to Arsenal’s starting 11 under Head Coach Mikel Arteta. Alexandre Lacazette arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2017 from Lyon for a Fee of €53 Million. The Frenchman came to Arsenal with 100 Goals under his belt in 203 Appearances for the Ligue 1 side. Meanwhile, many clubs including Atletico Madrid were interested in signing him in 2017 after he eventually joined the Premier League Club.

In May 2017, there was a verbal agreement between Lacazette and Atletico Madrid to join the Club in the summer. But the Transfer never took place after the Court of Arbitration for Sport banned Atletico Madrid from signing New players. The Rojiblancos were banned for two transfer windows by FIFA for breaking the rules set by the Highest Governing body of Football.

However, La Razon has claimed that Atletico Madrid under Head Coach Diego Simeone is keen on signing him this summer. The Same outlet has also claimed that the Club is keeping tabs on RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi. But cracking a deal for Karim Adeyemi will be difficult who has already held talks with Real Madrid.

Can Atletico Madrid sign Lacazette despite interests from several Premier League clubs

Alexandre Lacazette is also linked with surprise moves to Manchester City and Barcelona. Meanwhile Newcastle United are also in the race to sign the Frenchman. Atletico Madrid will face stiff competition from Elite European clubs for the striker.

The Rojiblancos won the La Liga last season for the first time since 2014. Under Diego Simeone, the club reached 2 UEFA Champions League Finals but had to suffer defeats on both occasions against their bitter rivals Real Madrid. However, the club won the Europa League Thrice under Simeone most recently in 2018.

They signed Luis Suarez last season and brought back Antoine Griezmann this season on loan from FC Barcelona. Their Title defence this season is not going the way they might have planned. They are currently 5 points behind League leaders Real Sociedad with just 6 wins in their first 12 Matches. The Club’s defensive woes have been an issue as they have dropped points from Winning situations. Conceding late into the Injury time has raised questions about their Defensive display.
