Barcelona to try and unite Van de Beek with Koeman

Ronald Koeman wants to bring Donny van de Beek to FC Barcelona in January. The Dutch international has been going through a difficult time since his move to Manchester United last summer.

Koeman previously has managed Van de Beek during his time with the Netherland national side. The Barcelona manager wants to add more strength to his midfield and consider the 24-year-old as a good option.

According to Sport, Barcelona are in search of a more physical midfielder and would be ready to make a move in January. Apart from Van de Beek, the other players on their list include Marcelo Brozovic of Inter Milan, Tanguy Ndombele of Tottenham Hotspur and Franck Kessie of AC Milan.

DESPERATE VAN DE BEEK WANTED BY BARCELONA

Donny van de Beek made his big move to Manchester United from his boyhood club Ajax in the summer of 2020. However, during his first season with the Red Devils, the Dutch international appeared 36 times but mostly coming off as a substitute.

The situation has not changed this season, with the 24-year-old only making 3 appearances so far for United. Van de Beek also wanted to move away from the club for more playing time, but the manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer wanted him to stay.

With the situation not improving, Van de Beek is desperate to earn more minutes. The FIFA World Cup in 2022 is also a concern for the player as he could lose his place in his national side. Thus moving away is going to be his priority and Barcelona will be an interesting option.

The Blaugrana are struggling both on and off the pitch and manager Koeman is under a lot of pressure. Koeman currently wants to add more depth to his midfield. In Van de Beek, he has a player who has previous experience. With multiple Dutch players already in the squad, it could be easier for him to fit in.

However, whether Manchester United will allow Van de Beek to leave in January will be a question. Even if a move is sanctioned, the financial situation of Barcelona could make the midfielder out of their reach.
