Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice reacted to an Instagram post of Bukayo Saka following the 3-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
The Gunners faced a tricky challenge against their north London counterparts. But they came out on top with flying colours on the back of a dominant first half performance.
Saka was impressive with a goal and an assist. Following the win, he celebrated the victory on Instagram with the caption: “North London, you’re OURS! Always & Forever. THE Arsenal.” A number of his teammates responded to the post including Rice who wrote: “Let them keep talking.”
Arsenal survive late threat from Tottenham
It was almost a must-win game for Arsenal. They had to beat Spurs to stay alive in the title race. The Gunners were cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win at one stage before a huge goalkeeping blunder from David Raya. That blunder gifted Christian Romero with a goal for Spurs. Later on, Rice conceded a needless penalty which was converted by Son Heung-min.
However, in the end Arsenal managed to get all three points despite a nervous finish to the game. The players held on for a 3-2 victory in the end. Saka was one of the top performers.
Saka keeps Arsenal’s hopes alive
Aside from his goal and assist, the Arsenal academy graduate won 12 ground and aerial duels against Tottenham. He also made five tackles, completing 88 per cent of his passes in the derby. The 22-year-old looked back at his best against Spurs.
Arsenal are currently top of the league with 80 points, but holders Manchester City are still in the driver’s seat. They are one point behind with a game in hand. The Gunners can’t control their destiny, but need to ensure that they win their remaining matches to sustain the pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side in the coming weeks.
