Dzeko closing in on Inter move as Roma plans ahead

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

AS Roma are planning for the future as their veteran striker Edin Dzeko will move away from the club in the coming days. The 35-year-old is moving to Serie A champions Inter Milan and will be having his medical soon.

Multiple sources in Italy have confirmed Dzeko’s departure from Stadio Olimpico. As per reports Roma was willing to let Dzeko go even before confirming his replacement.

Reports also suggest that Roma are looking at Chelsea star Tammy Abraham as the replacement for Dzeko. Abraham also has offers from Arsenal and is weighing his options before making the decision.

DZEKO LEAVES ROMA AFTER 6 YEARS

Dzeko will leave Roma after six years of being with the club. The Bosnian joined the Giallorossi from Manchester City initially on a loan and later made his move permanent. The latest move to Inter Milan came after Chelsea came with a big offer for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku.

Edin Dzeko has played 260 times for Roma and scored 119 goals for them. For the new boss Jose Mourinho, it will be critical to replace the Bosnians goal output if the club wants to finish higher on the table.

This is what prompted the Roma hierarchy to look at Tammy Abraham. Abraham already was a fringe player in the Chelsea team and will find it even more difficult if the move for Lukaku is finalized. However, the only thing stopping Abraham to make the move is interest from London rivals Arsenal.

Roma will be hoping that they can convince Abraham with the opportunity to play as the main striker and offer him regular minutes. The club will need to act fast as Serie A will start next week.
