India vs Qatar: FIFA qualifiers when and where to watch.

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

India is all set to take on Qatar in the Asian Football Confederation Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying tie. Sunil Chettri would lead the team for India vs Qatar.

They are out of the reckoning for a Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup berth. Although, Blue Tigers are still very much in contention for qualification in the 2023 AFC to be held in China.

It was supposed to be a home match for India. Due to the COVID-19 situation in the country, all of their remaining AFC Zone 2022 FIFA qualifiers were shifted to Qatar. After Qatar, India will take on Bangladesh and Afghanistan on June 7 and 15 respectively.

The match will begin at 8 pm local time (10:30 pm IST) on Thursday at the Al Sadd Stadium. The match will be aired live on all the channels of Sports Star, Disney Hotstar, and Jio Tv. India vs Qatar will kick off tomorrow at 10:30 pm IST. Bangladesh vs India at 7:30 pm IST and India vs Afghanistan at 7:30 pm IST.

A lot at stake for the Indian team

Igor Stimac’s men have registered just three points from the opening five outings in the second AFC Zone qualifying round. Disappointing results that hang in by a thread in fourth place in an intriguing Group E. They have much to play for with the campaign also doubling as qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Qatar tops the table with 13 points, while Oman is hot on their heels with 12. India is all but out of contention for the top two spots but a third-place finish is well within the reach of the Blue Tigers. That will book them a direct berth in the third round for the 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Having held Qatar to a goalless draw in the first leg, the Blue Tigers will hope to achieve an even better result this time.

The predicted lineup for the Indian team

Goalkeeper – Amrinder Singh
Defenders – Chinglensana Singh, Sandesh Jhingan, Pritam Kotal, Akash Mishra
Midfielders – Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad, Glan Martins, Rowllin Borges
Forwards – Sunil Chhetri, Manvir Singh
