Indian Team Headed to Nepal without Sandesh Jhinghan

Sandesh Jhinghan won’t be available for upcoming friendlies. As he joins the Croatian Top-tier club.

Indian National Team’s Head Coach Igor Stimac is confident about the Upcoming Friendlies against Nepal. Certainly the Croatian Head Coach is happy with the team’s performance against IFA XI. In addition during the exhibition match on Monday against IFA XI. India X1 won the game clinically with Akash Mishra scoring the winner.

“I am really happy for this game and we will do our best to have such games. We won’t mind having such matches and in another 7 days we may want another game like this,” – Said Igor Stimac.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic when it is difficult to find games, this (Kolkata) is one of the best places to train. Kolkata is a great football place,” – further added by the Croatian Coach.

Further the exhibition match was held at VYSK Stadium, Kolkata. Most importantly Ministers of West Bengal also attended this match. In addition some officials from both AIFF and State Football Federation.

“I was cautious about my players not picking up injuries, and wanted to understand how they handled the game. They went into the pitch after a long time, and without much practice,” – Said Igor Stimac.

Why Sandesh Jhinghan is out?

“I’m may consider releasing Sandesh Jhinghan from the camp,” – Further added by Stimac. Certainly, the 28-Year-Old Defender has signed for HNK Sibenik ( top-tier Croatian Team) last week. So he might be not available for the upcoming friendlies.

Most importantly Stimac Said the following about Croatian League.

“Having in mind that the Croatian League has already had 5 rounds, and the players are fit, we are thinking as to how we can help Sandesh get into form as soon as possible, and also try to facilitate him get his place in the team. It’s important for him to get into the playing XI. So we may consider releasing him from the camp and bringing him back but allow him to stay with the club.”

Certainly, India will travel to Nepal next month to play two friendlies. And earlier AIFF was trying to arrange a friendly match against Jordan and Libya in Istanbul. However, the quarantine restrictions in Turkey made that impossible.

“Earlier we planned to play Libya and Jordan in Istanbul. But the long duration of quarantine in Istanbul didn’t allow us to go ahead. We also looked at other options wherein we agreed to play Nepal and Malaysia in Nepal. But Malaysia couldn’t travel owing to quarantine rules back home in their country,” – Said Igor Stimac, Indian National Team’s Head Coach.

However, the SAFF Championship and AFC U-23 are scheduled for October. So it will be a Football Festival for Indian Fans.
