Juventus to let go of their star defender in this summer

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Juventus are reportedly willing to part ways with their Turkish defender Merih Demiral in this summer transfer window as the defender is not happy with his game time at Allianz Stadium.

The Old Lady of Turin bought the highly-rated 23-year-old defender from Sassuolo in July 2019 for €18 million. Since then he made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Bianconeri, scoring one goal in the process.

The lack of game time has forced Demiral to look elsewhere for first-team football. However, the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri could change the situation as the 53-year-old manager likes to play with back three at times that could open an opportunity for the Turkish to play regular football with the Serie A giants.

However, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Demiral. If he leaves, who are the suitors to sign the defender, as he struggled with injury issues in recent times? Leicester City were previously linked with him and it is unlikely that they will go down to the same route after buying Wesley Fofana in the summer.

Will Demiral leave Juventus at the end of this season?

According to Calciomercato, Juventus are preparing to sell Demiral in this transfer window. The player is not satisfied with the minutes played in the season that just ended and given his attractive salary and a potential capital gain for the bianconeri, he could soon become expendable this summer.

The defender will be a good addition to any club that would buy Demiral. However, the biggest problem with him is, he is very rash and ill-disciplined on the pitch. He has a tendency to make stupid challenges and picking up unnecessary cards.

Merih Demiral has spent his youth career with Fenerbahce and graduated from there. The Turkish defender had a brief spell in Portugal. However, he returned to Turkey in 2018.

Sassuolo signed Demiral on loan in January 2019 with an obligation to buy. But, after just six months at the Neroverdi Juventus snatched Demiral in the summer of 2019.

Demiral has to choose wisely what he will do for next season. If he does not get the assurance of proper first-team football then he should leave the club as he has plenty of time in his career to play football and develop himself.
