Juventus want Griezmann as Ronaldo replacement

Wolves

According to Marca, Juventus is targeting to sign the French forward Antoine Griezmann in this summer transfer window. The old lady’s new manager has included the Frenchman in his plans to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in the team.

Griezmann had an unsettling run with the Catalans after transferring from Atletico Madrid in 2019. Barcelona paid a hefty amount of €120 million to sign the Frenchman. The high price was justified due to his impressive performances for Atletico during his five years stay. While he played a big role for the French side in lifting the 2018 world cup.

Barcelona bought the French star to improve their attacking options after Neymar left Camp Nou. However, Griezmann failed to live up to the club’s expectations for two years. The Frenchman has appeared 99 times for the Catalans in which he scored 35 goals and assisted 16 goals in all competitions.

Following this bitter run of the Frenchman, the club wants to offload the player as soon as possible. And Barcelona are also looking to get rid of the high wage that they are paying to Griezmann despite his poor form.

The Catalans have already named the French forward in their 14 players transfer list who are available this summer. Barcelona are looking to earn a decent amount from the Griezmann deal as they want to raise their transfer funds to sign Erling Haaland.

And following this transfer option, Juventus have shown their interest to sign the Frenchman. The Old Lady are looking for a cheap option to replace Ronaldo in the team, and sees Griezmann fit for that role. While Liverpool are also believed to be in the line for Griezmann.

Juventus includes Griezmann in their plans to replace Ronaldo

This year, Juventus suffered a horrific season as they lost the Serie A title to Inter Milan after almost ten years. While they somehow finished fourth in the league table in the last matchday, and all thanks to Napoli for that. However, they won the Copa Italia against Atalanta, but winning one trophy for such a big team with such superstars is low for their standards.

Following this bad performance, this season the Old Lady sacked their former player and manager Andre Pirlo. But Juventus were quick enough to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as their manager. The Italian returned for his second spell at Juventus after leaving the club in 2019.

Allegri has already tabled his plan to the club’s board for taking back Juventus to its former glory. In his first plan, he requested the club to sign a new forward this summer to replace Ronaldo. The Portuguese was the top scorer this season for the Old Lady with 36 goals in all competitions. However, he has been rumored about leaving the club following their poor performance this season.

It is believed that Juventus have shortlisted Harry Kane, Memphis Depay, and Griezmann as options to replace Ronaldo. But, the Old Lady might not be securing the services of Kane because of his high price of €120 million. While Depay is also strongly linked with Barcelona and is ready to join the Catalans as a free agent. Which has left the Old Lady with the only option to target Griezmann.

Despite his poor performances, Juventus are betting that Griezmann could fit in the shoes of Ronaldo next season. So, let’s wait and see if the Frenchman will land in Italy next season and if he could return to his old form.
