Kai Havertz verbally agrees personal terms with Real Madrid

With Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo as only two forward options left in the squad, Madrid will undoubtedly sign numerous players across the offensive spectrum, as Carlo Ancelotti said during his news conference yesterday. Fran Garcia is expected to come soon, while a loan deal for Joselu is also expected to be finalised. Jude Bellingham appears to be on the verge of a huge deal as well. And it appears that Real Madrid is interested in a Chelsea player.

Kai Havertz of Chelsea is one of the stars they are considering. The German arrived to Stamford Bridge in 2020 on a €80 million agreement, but he is unlikely to quit following a difficult three years. Kai Havertz has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time, even before joining Chelsea. And, with the Blues in desperate need of outgoings, this could be the ideal time for Los Blancos to bring him in. According to recent rumours, Havertz has verbally agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid. The club has informed his camp that they will make a transfer bid for him to Chelsea soon. However, there has been no contact between the clubs at this point of time.

Havertz’s stint at Chelsea has not been as successful as predicted. But there is no doubt about his calibre.
Havertz has found the Premier League to be far too intense and fast-paced. However, if he joins Real Madrid, he has the potential to be a huge success in La Liga. At the same time, he has established himself as a big game player. He scored the game-winning goal for Chelsea against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final. He also scored the game-winning goal for them in the Club World Cup final.

Los Blancos might prefer a prolific goalscorer over Havertz

The attacker currently has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2025. Havertz has nine goals in all competitions this season and was expected to lead Chelsea’s attack. He is clearly not a reliable goalscorer, and Chelsea will need to bring in a top-tier striker this summer. As a result, if an appealing offer comes through, they might sell him.

However, Real Madrid is emphasising the acquisition of Harry Kane and has very little interest in signing the German international. But Spurs have set a price tag of around €120 million on him. Therefore, depending on how their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane goes, they may go back in for Havertz. He has one year left on his contract and has been considered as a possible replacement to Karim Benzema.
