Exclusive to Lionel Messi

At some point, Lionel Messi says he will return to Barcelona, but after retiring from football. Ever since financial difficulties in Catalunya forced him to sever ties with Barca as a free agent in 2021, a Camp Nou comeback has been rumored.

As his contract in France runs out towards the summer of 2023, it continues to generate talks of a return for Messi.

What did Messi say in the interview?

Despite speculation suggesting Messi might go to MLS at some point, new terms are expected to be signed with PSG. It should also be noted that rumors are also circulating around Messi about his arrival to MLS or Saudi where his rival Ronaldo is currently playing at. However, he told Diario Ole that he intends to return home when he finishes his career:

“When I finish my career, I will return to live in Barcelona, it’s my home.”

Argentina defeated France in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final, with Messi winning the “most prestigious trophy” of all. He also talked about a few other things during the interview.

Messi has always been at the top of Barcelona’s list, with president Joan Laporta frequently stating that he would love to see him back in the team. Xavi is now the manager at Camp Nou, where he was a former teammate of the World Cup winner.

The Blaugrana legend’s record for the club remains at 672 goals through 778 matches. Moreover, he has 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League titles to his name.
