Juventus are reportedly closing in on a loan deal with Barcelona for Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic as per the report in Spanish outlet Sport

The 31-year-old joined the Catalan giants last September from the Bianconeri in a swap deal involving Arthur Melo who went in the other direction. The deal hasn’t panned out quite well for the midfielder. And he struggled to find regular first-team action at the Camp Nou.

Following the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as the Old Lady manager. Pjanic has been linked with a return to Turin and reunite with his old mates. The 31-year-old was an integral part of Allegri’s system at the Allianz Stadium but couldn’t showcase his talent in La Liga last season.

Juventus set to sign Pjanic from Barcelona:

According to the report in Sport, Juventus are one step away from securing a loan deal with Barcelona for Miralem Pjanic. The Spanish giants are struggling with their finances following the pandemic. And they couldn’t even register Lionel Messi for this reason and La Liga’s financial fair play rule.

The Blaugrana are still looking to offload some players and clear the wage bill to register new signings. The 31-year-old’s departure will free up some wages. This will allow the Spanish giants to register like Memphis Depay, Eric García, Sergio Aguero or Emerson Royal. They have already signed for Barca but could not be registered due to the high wage bill that the club have at the moment.

The record Serie A champions are looking for a creative midfielder who can play passes through the lines. Pjanic was the man at Juventus during the Allegri era but Arthur was brought for that role. The Brazilian failed to fill the Bosnian’s shoes and struggled with injuries since arriving at the club.

Juventus struggled to create chances last season under Andrea Pirlo. Rodrigo Bentancur, Aaron Ramsey or Weston McKennie are not the creators from midfield which was an issue under Pirlo. It will be interesting to see how Allegri can solve that problem. With Pjanic closing in on a move to Juventus, it will be tough for him to replicate his old form, given he barely played for Barcelona last season.
