Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is trying to persuade new investors, Ineos, that he’s the right person to lead the team in the future.
After the unexciting draw at Old Trafford on Saturday, Erik ten Hag expressed displeasure with his Manchester United team’s performance. Speaking to MUTV after the 1-1 draw with Burnley, the manager shared his thoughts:
“We put ourselves in a winning position, the most difficult [thing] in football, and, in many phases of the game, we did very good. Then, in the end, we have to take three points and keep a clean sheet. But we gave it away. It’s very frustrating.”
Uncertain Future of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United
Ineos hasn’t said anything yet about what they plan to do with Erik ten Hag. There’s a lot of talk about whether he’ll stay at the club or not.
Sixteen different managers have been mentioned as possible replacements for Ten Hag already. However, he still has the chance to make a difference and decide what happens next for him.
If Manchester United ends the season well and wins the FA Cup final against their rivals Manchester City, it could improve their chances of keeping the former Ajax boss. However, Saturday’s disappointing draw doesn’t make it more likely.
Peter Schmeichel Supports Thomas Tuchel for Manchester United
Last month, former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was seen with Ineos boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Stamford Bridge.
Schmeichel has been praising a manager he thinks would do well at Old Trafford. He’s a fan of Thomas Tuchel, who is currently leaving Bayern Munich.
In an interview with BeIN Sports, Schmeichel supported Tuchel’s performance at Bayern and believes he has what it takes to succeed at Manchester United. He even compared him to Jurgen Klopp.
“I like him. I like Thomas Tuchel and had the pleasure of interviewing him a couple of times. His football knowledge is fantastic. I think he has been a little bit unlucky with being at two big football clubs at the wrong time of their history, at times when things were not working at every level.” Schmeichel said
Reports from Germany suggest that Thomas Tuchel is interested in the Manchester United job and is considered one of the top choices if it becomes available.
