Transfer Update: Javi Hernández signs for Odisha FC

Odisha FC have officially announced the signing of veteran attacking midfielder Javi Hernández on a one-year deal via their official Twitter on Friday. As of the deal, OFC will keep him till the end of the 2021-22 ISL campaign.

After the signing of former ATK defender Victor Mongil, Javi becomes the second foreign signing of the Odisha FC.

Javi addition to the Juggernauts squad will surely boost their midfield performance and will provide steadiness to the team that they lacked lasts season.

The 32 years old Salamanca-born midfielder joined the then ATK in 2019 and won the ISL title that season. He also played for the last year’s runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan and has been an integral part of the team.

In his two years at the Kolkata Giants, he scored two important goals, the first goal came in his debut season in Indian in the finals of ISL against Chennaiyin FC. And the second one came against ISL debutants SC East Bengal in the Kolkata Derby last campaign.

The new head coach of Odisha FC Kiko Ramirez is happy with the signing of Javi as he has experience playing in India especially in one of the best clubs ATK Mohun Bagan.
