Aouar or Isco: Arsenal Eye Ballers to Solve Creativity Issue

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Arsenal target Houssem Aouar and Isco to solve their creativity issues in the January transfer window.

Arsenal have been struggling in Premier League this season. They currently sit at 15th after a promising start. The Gunners are criticized for not creating enough chances. With star player Mesut Ozil left out of the Premier League and Europa League squad, they need to bring some creative spark to the Emirates.

Houssem Aouar is Still the Number One Target for Arteta

Manager Mikel Arteta made Lyon star Houssem Aouar their top priority in the summer. However, the deal fell apart on the deadline day. Then the London-based side showed interest in Dominik Szoboszlai. But the former RB Salzburg star chose RB Leipzig over the Gunners. Now, Arteta targets Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

The Spanish playmaker hasn’t been regular under Zidane in the last few months and reportedly wants to leave the club. The former Malaga star joined Real Madrid in 2013 and has won four Champions League titles with the Los Blancos.

Isco performed superbly under Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, and under Zidane as well. His ball control, dribbling, and passing skills are a treat to the eyes. But he is very unhappy with his playing time and wants to leave.

Arsenal, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur all are keen in signing the player. Gunners are frontrunners as they have a good relationship with the Spanish giants. The Gunners have signed Dani Ceballos on loan from Real and another loan move for Isco may just happen in January.

However, a permanent deal is also on the cards. Real value Isco at around £20 million, which is far less than the asking price for Aouar.

“Isco is our player but I don’t know how long for, although he is ours. We are happy like this, we are happy with him. He is our player.”

– Zinedine Zidane

Although Isco is a potential target, Arteta really wants Houssem Aouar in his squad. The 22-year-old was exceptional in Lyon’s run to the UCL semi-finals last season. He also played well this season but made clear that he won’t commit his future to the French side. Arsenal saw their bid rejected by Lyon in the summer and may place an improved offer to sign him in January.

Our Take on Arsenal Chasing Aouar and Isco:

Arsenal certainly need a go-to player to create something in the middle of the park in games. They already have Ceballos, Willock to do that but they both have inconsistency issues.

Now, the Gunners showed interest in Christian Eriksen who is more inclined to move to PSG, Isco and Aouar duo seems to be the ultimate solution. Maybe not both of them together due to financial issues, but surely at least one of them needs to arrive in North London soon.
