Arsenal and Manchester City are both battling for the Premier League title at the moment. Heading into the summer transfer window they may also do battle over a potential signing.
It is understood that both the clubs are looking for a new left-back. The name being linked is Wolves‘ Rayan Ait-Nouri. Chelsea are also said to be doing their homework on the 22-year-old.
The Algerian has become one of the league’s stand-out left-sided defenders and his progress has not gone unnoticed.
League leaders are looking at a left-back
Rayan Ait-Nouri has flourished in Gary O’Neil’s side this season. This has certainly been a real breakout campaign for the €32 million man.
Reports can confirmed that Arsenal, City and Chelsea have been watching Ait-Nouri closely for more than 12 months and they are all looking at adding a new left-back this summer and the Wolves man is their high on their list of options.
Rayan Ait-Nouri has had an incredible season
The 22-year-old was always tipped for big things since arriving at Wolves as a teenager. However, he has really blossomed over the past year. Alan Shearer described him as ‘amazing’ this season, meanwhile his manager described him as ‘incredible’. Ait-Nouri could be just what Arsenal and Man City need.
The Cityzens and Gunners have both operated without a conventional left-back for some time. Pep has used Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake, center-backs by trade, as a left-back this season. On the other hand, Arteta has often used Jakub Kiwior, again a center-back by trade, as a left-back.
The current contract of Rayan Ait-Nouri at Molineux runs to 2026, with the club also having an additional 12-month option. Arsenal and City certainly seem interested, but right now Wolves hold all the cards. But things could change if the players makes it clear that he wants to move.
