In a recent video on the FA Cup YouTube channel, Stefan Ortega talked about his Manchester City teammates. When asked about Manuel Akanji, he said, “He can do everything.” Manchester City signed Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund for £15 million near the end of the summer transfer window in 2022.
Since then, the defender, who earns £180,000 per week, has played 90 games for City in all competitions and scored five goals during that time.

This season, the 28-year-old has been versatile, playing as a center-back, left-back, right-back, and defensive midfielder at different times. In this season’s Premier League, Manuel Akanji has played in 25 matches. He’s made the second-most clearances (64) and the third-most successful tackles (23) among City players. He’s also made the third-highest number of passes into the final third of the field (176).
This shows that the center-back is good at defending and also helps move the ball forward when his team has it. Considering all this, it’s clear why Stefan Ortega says the Swiss player can do anything on the field.
