Owen Hargreaves Tips Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott as the Next Martin Odegaard

Harvey Elliott - Liverpool

Owen Hargreaves thinks Harvey Elliott could become similar to Martin Odegaard.

Liverpool fans can be annoyed because they couldn’t handle the pressure in the Premier League title race. People thought Manchester City would stay strong, and if anyone would mess up, it would be Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Surprisingly, Liverpool now need Manchester City to beat Fulham to almost guarantee that Jurgen Klopp won’t win the Premier League this season. The last Liverpool captain to stop Pep Guardiola’s team from winning was Jordan Henderson.

Although Manchester City still have control with few games left, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could join Henderson if something unexpected happens soon.

A Potential Liverpool Star

Odegaard, a top player in the Premier League, has helped Arsenal stay mentally strong.

Owen Hargreaves believes that after Liverpool’s win against Tottenham, they have their own version of Odegaard in Harvey Elliott.

The 21-year-old scored an incredible goal against Spurs. Hargreaves described it as a “brilliant finish from a fabulous young player,” he told Premier League Productions.

Hargreaves said that Elliott can play as a midfielder or on the right side. But he thinks Elliott is best suited to play in the middle because he’s smart on the field.

Facing Early Career Spotlight: Harvey Elliott and Martin Odegaard

“When you get into certain positions on a pitch, you have pictures. If you are there, left-footed, he is going to whip that to the back post. I love Harvey Elliott and I think he could be like an Odegaard for Liverpool. I don’t see him as a wide player.” Hargreaves said

Odegaard knows what it’s like to face a lot of attention early in your career. When he was a young teenager, he was considered one of the best young talents and got signed by Real Madrid because of his skills. While Elliott didn’t play for a big club like Madrid, he did become the youngest player in the Premier League in 2019, and people have had high hopes for him.

At Liverpool, Elliott has good support, and he hasn’t let the pressure get to him. He’s improving and showing promising signs for the future.
