Arsenal Begins: Pursuing Martin Zubimendi and More

Arsenal

Arsenal is pumped up for the next season as they compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta is focusing on signing Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Italian reports, Arsenal has made Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi an offer of £43 million. Since it was made public earlier this week that Mikel Arteta is interested in Zubimendi, Arsenal has placed their first bid to acquire him.

Interest in Zubimendi Grows: Arsenal Leads the Race

Many teams, like Juventus and Barcelona, want Martin Zubimendi. He said before that he wouldn’t leave San Sebastian this summer, but Arsenal really wants him to join their team and is trying hard to convince him.

The 25-year-old holding midfielder has established himself as one of the top players in the world for his position and is a regular for both club and nation. Martin Zubimendi made 45 appearances for Real Sociedad across all competitions this season and has scored four goals apart from the defensive duties.

TuttoMercato reported that Arsenal offered £43 million for Martin Zubimendi. They aim to sign him before other teams and are offering less than his £51 million release clause. Some say Juventus feels the fee is too high.

Zubimendi: Sergio Busquets’s Next Successor?

Described as a “fantastic player” by Fabrizio Romano, Martin Zubimendi has also been linked to Barcelona in recent weeks. As many believe the Spaniard could finally succeed Barcelona icon Sergio Busquets. Similar to Busquets during his prime at Camp Nou, Martin Zubimendi can manage the game’s tempo and provides excellent ball distribution from deep inside the pitch.

Although Martin Zubimendi has expressed his happiness at his current club in the past, he may reconsider if he receives an offer to play in the Champions League the following season. With three games remaining in the season, Real Sociedad is currently in seventh place in La Liga and 16 points shy of making it into the Champions League. The previous season, they finished fourth in the league.

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil, also stated that Zubimendi is sure that he will play for Real Sociedad going forward and that he wants to remain with the team for the upcoming campaign.

Besides looking for a midfielder who can be a long term replacement for Thomas Partey in the future, Arsenal has struggled to score goals this season, so they need someone dependable in that department. To challenge Manchester City again next season, they might need to bring in more players.

Arsenal’s Search for a New Striker

Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres had a breakthrough season in Portugal, scoring 27 goals in 32 games this season. Arsenal’really like’ Gyokeres, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Many Top European teams are expected to be very interested in signing the Sweden international. So Arsenal may have competition this summer to sign him.

Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus had a tough season, only scoring nine goals together in the Premier League. Even though Kai Havertz prefers not to play as a striker, he has taken on the role to help out. Bukayo Saka, Arsenal’s winger, is their top scorer for the team this season with 17 goals, followed by Leandro Trossard.

In the past, Ivan Toney of Brentford were linked to Arsenal. Toney has only scored four goals in the Premier League since returning from an eight-month ban in January, though, as he has struggled to find consistent form.

Sporting Lisbon has a strong position with Gyokeres because his contract has an £85 million release clause. It seems they won’t agree to any lower offers for their prized number nine.
