Chelsea offer lump sum plus bonuses deal for Brazilian wonderkid

Jonathan

Chelsea are keen on signing Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian, popularly known as ‘Messinho’. This has been discussed in the Brazilian media for the past few days.

At the weekend, UOL reported the Blues are talking to Palmeiras daily. They want to wrap up the deal quickly for the 17-year-old. Earlier it was reported that Chelsea want to offer €30 million fixed fee and bonuses to make the deal worth €55-60 million. However, Palmeiras wanted a higher fixed sum.

Journalist Jorge Nicola, relayed by Torcedores, explains that after selling Endrick to Real Madrid, the Brazilian club’s board ‘must be about to close another major negotiation’ with Chelsea for Estevao.

Chelsea have already given a better offer for Estevao

Nicola, through his YouTube channel, says a few Premier League sides have been trying to sign the 17-year-old. Although, he also added that the west London club have been gaining more ground in this operation.

He said: “Chelsea are prepared for offers above €60 million… Neither Chelsea nor their two English rivals want to pay that fixed €60 million for the deal to go through. The idea is to pay a lump sum and the rest in bonuses. And to try and convince Palmeiras to do the deal, Chelsea have already offered €40 million in a lump sum and €25 million in bonuses.”

Chelsea want to secure the wonderkid

Nicola’s latest report indicates Chelsea are offering a higher fixed fee in order to secure a deal for Estevao. If the Blues were to reach an agreement with Palmeiras, the overall cost of the operation could go up to €65 million. However, the wonderkid won’t be able to arrive at the Stamford Bridge until he turns 18 next April.

Earlier, FC Barcelona were also reported to be interested in Messinho, but they withdrew their interest because the operation to sign him would be too costly for them.
