Barcelona signs a new Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye

Faye has reportedly signed with Barcelona. All that is left for him is to wait for the contract to be officially confirmed, according to Fabrizio Romano. Due to the likelihood that Faye’s contract would be registered under Barcelona Athletic, the team won’t have to worry about having him listed as a first team player with LaLiga.

According to rumours, Faye will soon leave Croatian club NK Kustoija Zagreb for Barcelona. The Catalans reportedly spending anything between 1.5 million and 5 million euros for the young player. On Wednesday, Mikayil Faye showed up in Barcelona for a medical examination before finalising his transfer to the Camp Nou.

However, he will begin preseason with the first team as Xavi Hernandez is going to utilise the time to assess his recent acquisition. In connection with Barcelona’s preseason preparations, he might also travel to the US. A €400 million release clause in Faye’s Barcelona contract as reported by Romano, underlines the club’s confidence in the talented youngster. He intends to make significant contributions beginning this summer.

Samir Toplak, the coach of Kustosija, provided some statements to Mundo Deportivo back in April that provide some insight into what Barca might anticipate from the youngster.

“The Barcelona scouts who saw him were speechless; I know this because I spoke to them and they were delighted with what they saw, speechless,” he stated.

“Speed, left foot, jump. He’ll be with us until the summer. We have scouts who come to see him all the time. There were people from Genk, Atalanta, Benfica, from Anderlecht.”

Toplak remarked, “he’s not good, he’s phenomenal, a beast”. In addition he described Faye as a “rarely seen” talent.
We hope he can live up to the expectations at Barca.
