Chelsea predicted XI vs Sheffield United : Pochettino recieves Nkunku boost amid injury crisis

Chelsea

Chelsea would look to bounce back to winning ways as they welcome Sheffield United to the Stamford Bridge. With pressure mounting after a number of poor results, Mauricio Pochettino would want a win now more than ever.

While the Blues search for a win, injuries seem to pull them back. However, the boss is looking ahead to potentially welcoming back one of his biggest summer additions.

Here’s our predicted XI for Chelsea for this weekend’s clash against Sheffield United.

The defense looks hampered by injuries

24-year-old Djordje Petrovic will surely get his first start since Robert Sanchez is out injured.

With Reece James again out injured, hopefully Malo Gusto will be fit enough to start. At left-back, Levi Colwill will most likely replace Marc Cucurella who has an injury concern.

At center-back, I’m expect Thiago Silva to return to the starting XI after being dropped in the last match against Everton. Silva will most likely replace Axel Disasi to partner Benoit Badiashile at the heart of defense.

Our predicted XI for Chelsea does not see them make any changes in the midfield

The midfield is by far the most stable position for Chelsea this season. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher have started most of the games as a midfield trio and I expect all three to start against Sheffield United this weekend.

Exciting summer signing might make a return in attack

Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling have been Chelsea’s best attackers this season. With the Blues desperate for a win, I expect both to start on either wings respectively. Palmer will start on the right but will take up a free role. Sterling will start on the left and run at the defenders with his pace.

At the number 9, I expect summer signing Christopher Nkunku to finally make his official Chelsea debut.
