Dani Alves, the Barcelona legend is set to miss out on the Europa League squad of the Blaugrana.
The legendary right-back made a surprise return back to Barcelona at the age of 38. The right-back who has won every major footballing trophy there is has missed out on the squad. Nonetheless, the rules allow only 3 of the 4 players to be registered during the winter.
It comes as no surprise that Dani Alves was the one to make the sacrifice. Barcelona have struggled this season in every aspect. More than ever their attack has become a real concern. With Ansu injured and Dembele who could be sidelined for the rest of the season. Barcelona really never had many attacking options.
Now that Europa League has become Barcelona last hope for silverware Dani Alves made way for newly arrived star strikers. However, with the arrival of Aubamayeyang, Adama Traore, and Ferran Torres, Barca would look to fire themselves back to the champions league.
The arrival of hope for Barcelona and Dani Alves
The 38-year-old is the most decorated footballer out there. Having won everything for the club and country it was no surprise for Barcelona to want him back. Dani Alves came back to Barcelona a freet transfer back in the month of November.
The Brazilian made 395 appearances for the club scoring 21 and providing 103 assists. His link-up play with Messi was just astonishing. Moreover nicknamed the ‘good crazy’ even at the age of 38 the player shows no signs of stopping .
The player originally signed for just one season would look to provide Barcelona with the edge in La Liga now. As of toady, there are no signs of the club renewing Alves’ contract. Though age is a factor, but his performance for both his club and country must be making it hard for Barcelona to let go off him.
