Ex-Arsenal Star, Alexis Sanchez to leave for French Club Marseille

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Chilean Winger and Ex-Arsenal ace, Alexis Sanchez is planning to terminate his contract with his current club, Inter Milan. He will leave for the french club Olympique de Marseille where he to sign a new contract until 2024. The deal will be completed next week.

Sanchez has struggled in form for the past couple of years. He is said to have peaked during his time at the Emirates. His time at North London ended after a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan with Manchester United in January 2018. However, he suffered at United with poor form. He only scored five goals and had nine assists in 45 games during his time at Old Trafford.

In the summer of 2019 however, he escaped to Inter Milan, first on loan and then on a free transfer, where his torrid run of form continued, as he only had 20 goals and 23 assists in 108 games. The Italian side would be eager to get the Chilean off their wage bill, as he is reportedly not part of Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

Alexis Sanchez to join other former Arsenal players

Sanchez is set to join four other former Arsenal players at his destination. He is going to link up with ex-Arsenal players Matteo Guendouzi, Saed Kolsaniac, and loanee Nuno Tavares, with centre-back William Saliba, who also spent last year at Stande Velodrome.

Full-back Tavares started the campaign off in style, with a splendid solo goal against Reims in a 4-1 win. Coincidentally, the only other goal scored by Reims was through a header by fellow Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun.

Also, ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsay managed to score in his debut for Nice. The Welshman moved from another Italian giant, Juventus, and his goal against Toulouse managed to secure a draw for his new club.
