According to a report by Sports1, Barcelona are considering to bid for Atalanta B.C. left-back Robin Gosens in this transfer window. The Catalans are in the market to find a replacement for Jordi Alba and consider Gosens to be the ideal player for that.
The 26-year-old started his football career in Germany and went to shift his life to the Netherlands for the later years. Following which he signed for Atalanta B.C. in 2017 from Heracles Almelo. Since, his transfer to Italy Gosens has appeared 149 times for Atalanta, in which he scored 27 goals and 20 assists in all competitions.
However, the German rose to fame after putting up an impressive form for Atalanta last season. Gosens was a key figure at the back while chipping in 12 goals and 8 assists in his 44 appearances last season. While, his contribution also helped Atalanta securing the third position in the Serie A table, following booking a Champions League spot next season.
His impressive performances in the left wing also made him select in the German squad for Euro 2020. Where he also scored a goal against Portugal and earned Man of the Match following his performance against Ronaldo’s side.
The German still has two years left in his contract with Atalanta. However, the Italian side might sell him, following the interest received from different clubs. And the line to sign Gosens is led by the Spanish giants Barcelona. Following these interest, Atalanta have valued the German at €35 million for now, as the price might rise if he performs well at the Euros.
Gosens has still not commented on the transfer rumors as he is focusing on his Euro campaign. But he has always desired to play in the Bundesliga, however, there is no offer for him from the German League.
Barcelona are looking to replace Jordi Alba with Robin Gosens
The Catalans are having a busy transfer window as they are restructuring their team after a poor season. Currently, they have announced four signings which include three free agents. However, Barcelona are still in the market to sign a left-back who can replace Jordi Alba next season.
Despite, being on the wrong end Alba was able to carry on his impressive form. The left-back had appeared 49 times last season while scoring 4 goals and assisting 15 goals in all competitions. However, Ronald Koeman thinks about finding a long-term replacement for the Spanish player.
Following which Barcelona have identified Jose Gaya, Marcos Alonso, Owen Wijndal, and Robin Gosens to replace Alba in the left-back. While, as per the latest reports Gosens is topping the list after his recent performances for Atalanta and Germany.
However, Barcelona might face some financial problems in landing the German player. As the Catalans have to may €35 million or more to secure Gosens services. And Barcelona are not in such condition in the transfer market due to their €1 billion debt. But the Blaugrana might find a way to support the transfer if they load off some unproductive players. So, let’s wait and see if Barcelona could land Robin Gosens for their next season.
