Leeds United have once again been linked with the out of favour Manchester United right-winger Daniel James with the January window soon approaching.
Daniel James joined United last season for a price tag of £15 million from Swansea. James had a blazing start to the season scoring his first goal in his debut, scored 3 brilliant goals in his first month.
Things were all looking good for the Welsh sensation, but the lack of squad depth proved to be a complication for him.
For a player of his pace, rest is mandatory. But he was used so often in the squad that we could see how fatigue was affecting him. He made 47 appearances for United last season out of which 33 were in the Premier League.
Mason Greenwood’s breakthrough was the breather for him. But Greenwood’s breakthrough was so good that James now rarely being picked. To make things worse, Edinson Cavani’s arrival saw him drop way down the pecking order. Amand Diallo’s arrival in January might as well be his end of the journey at United.
This season, he has only appeared in 7 games, with a solitary goal that he scored in his cameo role in a 4-1 win against Istanbul Basaksheir.
Despite his recent struggle, James remains optimistic and has vowed that he will fight for his place.
“Man United is my club and I love it there. Whether I am playing or not I’m proud, as proud as I am to play for Wales.”There are obviously times where I played a lot last season. I may not have played as much this season, but I am sticking in there and always in and around it.”

LEEDS UNITED TO TRY AGAIN FOR DANIEL JAMES IN JANUARY?
Before Manchester United showed interest in Daniel James, Leeds United was tracking him for some time. The deal was almost completed 6 months before United signed him, but no response from Swansea saw the deal fall through.
James had even arrived at Yorkshire for the official photo shoot.
The Whites were again linked with him last January. As per reports, Leeds had prepared a £25 million bid for Daniel James. It is said that United’s higher authorities prevented the deal from going through.
They were worried that selling a player as soon as he arrived could give a negative impression on the club’s ability to develop players.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa has urged his club to try for the winger again in January. A loan spell can be seen as a real possibility for the time being.
