About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Manchester City have reportedly joined the race to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.

Sergio Ramos joined Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005. And since then the 34-year-old Spanish center-back has scored 72 goals in 467 appearances for Los Blancos. Which is an impressive feat to be achieved by a defender.

However, his contract is set to expire in June 2021. And with there being no news regarding his contract being extended, it has fueled speculations that he may not remain in the Spanish Capital next year. And that he is all set to leave once his contract expires.

These speculations have got the attention of many European giants and they are all set to lure him away from Madrid.

Manchester City interested in signing Ramos?

According to The Guardian Manchester City have expressed their interest in signing Sergio Ramos.

City who are 5th in the Premier League are looking to sign a center-back who can help in resolving the current defensive problems they are facing.

And they would want another defender among the ranks. As they are dealing with injury issues which has seen Aymeric Laporte and Eric Garcia being sidelined for the coming few months.

Therefore, they have identified Ramos as their target. And they would want to open talks with Madrid over Ramos acquisition as soon as possible.

However they face stiff competition from Tottenham, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain who are also monitoring the situation closely.

It will be exciting to see where Ramos plays next season as there could be that Madrid offer a contract extension. Or he could seal a move away from the Bernabeu. So at this stage all options are open and nothing can be ruled out.
