Milan and Juventus considering a player swap deal

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to reports from Italy AC Milan and Juventus are considering a swap deal of Alessio Romagnoli and Federico Bernardeschi in this summer transfer window.

The veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini is likely to leave the club at the end of this season. And his contract with Juventus will end in June 2021. And Italian international Romagnoli will be the perfect replacement for Chiellini for the Bianconeri

The 26-year-old Italian defender has a contract with the Rossoneri until June 2022. And the 27-year-old Italian winger is also contracted with Andrea Pirlo’s side until June 2022. So, the straight swap can be made this summer.

Juventus decided to rebuild their squad from next season and there will be some exodus to those players who are underperforming and Bernardeschi is one of them. But it will be hard to believe that Milan will accept this deal and let go of their star man and club captain for an underperforming player.

Will Milan accept the swap deal with Juventus?

Deals with Juventus haven’t gone down well for Milan in the past. Therefore it will be difficult for this swap deal to go through. Milan will have to pay Roma 30% of the sale sum exceeding €25 million, as agreed in 2015, so if Romagnoli sold for €30 million then 30% of €5 million will go to Roma. This situation will complicate the swap deal.

Rossoneri are looking to build a strong team as well to compete in the highest level of European football. And to maintain their goal they have to keep their star man. This deal only benefits Juventus as they can offload their underperforming star who has a big salary and get a top-class center-back.

Milan will lose their leader at the back and it is doubtful that Bernardeschi will ever regain his form and confidence to help Milan if the deal happens.

Romagnoli made 20 appearances in Serie A this season in an injury-interrupted season. He scored 1 goal and assisted once. He also managed 6 clean sheets. Milan captain also made 12 appearances with the Italian national side and marked with two goals.

Bernardeschi played in different positions this season under Pirlo. He served as winger, left-back and left-wing-back as well. The 27-year-old winger made 24 appearances in the league but started only seven teams and marked with two assists. Bernardeschi made 29 appearances for the national side and scored 5 goals.

The swap deal between Milan and Juventus will be an importent deal and interesting deal if it happens in this summer.
