Norwich City complete Milot Rashica signing from Werder Bremen

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Norwich City completed a coup when they secured the signature of Bundesliga star Milot Rashica. The Kosovan star will become only the second player from his nation to play in the Premier League next season.

Rashica will move from his current club Werder Breme, who were relegated from Bundesliga this season. Norwich City signed the winger on a four-year deal for a reported fee of £9.4 million.

Norwich is back to the Premier League this season after promotion. They recently sold their star player Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa and will be looking at Rashica as his replacement.

VERSATILE WINGER FROM KOSOSOVA

Milot Rashica rose to prominence after his move to the German side Werder Bremen. He exploded in the 2018/19 season when he scored 9 times and assisted 5 in the Bundesliga. He followed it up with another excellent season the next year when he scored 8 and assisted 7.

This propelled him to the spotlight as multiple clubs started showing interest in him. This included multiple Premier League clubs and top teams from Germany like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. However, Werder Bremen did not want to sell him and hold on for a bigger fee. The Kosovo international has also shined on the international stage, scoring 6 goals for his nation in just 32 appearances.

This proved to be a wrong move as Rashica’s performance dipped this season. The winger only scored 3 times this season from his 24 appearances. His performance also affected his side as they were relegated at the end. Thus Werder Bremen were forced to sell him for an even lower price and finally settled for the £9.4 million offered by Norwich.

RASHICA A SHREWD SIGNING FOR NORWICH

Norwich City has earned their promotion within a year of being relegated. However, unlike the previous time, the club seems to have identified their mistakes. The Canaries are more thoughtful in the transfer market as they are not spending too much on unwanted players.

The club had to sell their star performer Emiliano Buendia to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa. The Kosovan can become a decent replacement for Buendia. Rashica is very versatile and can play on both the wings and also play as a second striker. He likes to dribble, is a good crosser, and takes shot from distance.

Norwich has completed three signings in total this season already including Kenny Coker and Angus Gunn. But Rashica is the standout signing for them this season. At just 24, the player also offers excellent value and could become vital for their survival in the Premier League.
