Oscar Bruzon to head Bangladesh National Football Team

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Oscar Bruzon has been appointed as Bangladesh National Team head coach after Jamie Day was relieved from duty. This change in management takes place a fortnight before the SAAF Championship in the Maldives.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed, committee chairman, headed a BFF National Teams Committee meeting and the above-mentioned conclusion was made. Kazi Nabil states that the BFF took into account the experience of Bruzon. The Spaniard has worked with players in a number of countries, making him a suitable candidate.

Also, the BFF were not very pleased with Jamie Day’s performances recently.

Oscar Bruzon to the rescue

The SAFF Cup is set to begin on 1st October. The final is scheduled for 16th October. Oscar Bruzon will have his hands full with his first task heading a national team.

Prior to appointment, Bruzon has led India, Spain, Maldives and most recently Bangladesh Premier League winners Bashundhara Kings.

Before Bruzon joined Bashundhara Kings (2018), he has coached with India’s Mumbai City and Maldives’ New Radiant Club. The Spaniard also has had tenures in Spain, shepherding the Celta Vigo youth team and holding the post of Mallorca assistant coach.

Bangladesh are in an unfortunate situation at the moment. They have lost seven games in a row and have been unable to win the last two friendlies against Kyrgyz Republic (4-1) and Palestine (2-0) in September.

Their first match in the opening tie of the SAFF Cup will be vs Sri Lanka on1st October. Following it up are games against India, Nepal and Maldives in a round-robin format. The two teams at the top will travel to the final.

Previously, since August 2018, with Day as manager, the Bengal Tigers recorded 9 wins, 5 draws and 15 losses from 29 games. They were also knocked out in the group stages of the SAFF Championship 2018.
