The newly promoted team is Roundglass Punjab FC to the ISL from the I-League.
With their promotion to the Indian Super League, Punjab FC created sports history. Which is subject to meeting all financial criteria agreed upon by all stakeholders. However, it is in agreement with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the All India Football Federation’s roadmap (AIFF).
They now have an insurmountable eight-point advantage over second-placed Sreenidi Deccan after the win. Sreenidi Deccan and Roundglass Punjab were a two-horse race for much of the season. Until the former lost to lower-placed opponents Kenkre FC and Mohammedan SC, before drawing with Aizawl FC.
Roundglass Punjab FC Vs Rajasthan United Fc:-
The Punjab-based I-League club won the 2022-23 season with a 3-0 win over Rajasthan United FC on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Bhutanese forward Chencho Gyeltshen scored in the 16th minute to give Roundglass an early lead. Which was increased in the 41st minute by Slovenian attacker Luka Majcen. However, this was Majcen’s 14th goal of the 2022-23 season, trailing only Sreenidi Deccan’s David Castaneda. Ultimately, Spaniard Juan Mera hammered the last nail in the coffin with his 10th goal of the season in the 76th minute.
In addition to the ISL promotion, Roundglass Punjab will compete in the upcoming Super Cup. Which will be held in Kerala. Furthermore, according to the AFC’s revised Asian competition formats, which saw India lose its Champions League spot beginning with the 2024-25 season, Roundglass will be able to compete in the AFC Cup 2024-25.
The method of qualifying has yet to be determined.
