Sevilla keen on signing Liverpool’s Shaqiri and Minamino

Sevilla are reportedly monitoring two Liverpool players, Xherdan Shaqiri and Takumi Minamino. As per La Razon, the Spanish club is leading the race to sign both of them. The Andalusians are keen on rebuilding a squad to challenge the big three of La Liga.

Minamino is currently on loan to Southampton and hasn’t got much significant playing time at Liverpool. However, Shaqiri had failed to play more matches in this poor title defense season by the Merseyside club. Shaqiri’s contract expires on June 30, 2023, whereas Minamino’s loan ends in June this year.

Both of them might move to Spain as the club is preparing to replace Youssef En-Nesyri as he is considered by Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as a replacement for Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively.

Minamino and Shaqiri to shine playing for Sevilla

Takumi Minamino joined Liverpool after a dream start at RB Salzburg alongside high-flying Erling Haaland. Although he signed for the Reds, he is currently playing, and playing well, for Southampton.

For the Saints, he has scored two goals in six appearances so far. But, the 26-year-old Japanese striker is believed to be considered by his Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp. Thus, this deal would be a difficult one for Sevilla.

Xherdan Shaqiri joined the Reds from Stoke City in the 2018-19 Champions League winning season. The 29-year-old winger had been a key player ever since scoring 7 goals and bagging 5 assists in 43 matches for the English club.

However, the Swiss international is currently going through a difficult season with a lack of playing time and lack of contributions as goals or assists.

As a result, currently, the 2019-20 Europa League winners are planning to bring in Shaqiri for €15 million and Minamino for €10 million. The club bowed out from the Champions League this season following a 5-4 aggregate defeat to Borussia Dortmund. They are currently in the race for the fourth position in the Spanish league.
