Arsenal reportedly target ‘the next Henry’, in a shock blockbuster transfer

VITOR ROQUE

According to Football Transfers, Alexander Isak is on the radar of Arsenal. The Gunners are keen on rekindling their interest in the Newcastle United striker.

It is no secret that Arsenal need a prolific striker. The need was made evident in last week’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup. The game could have been over by half-time but a combination of Arsenal’s poor finishing and brilliant defending from the Reds meant it was goalless at the break and the away side took their chances when it came to them in the second half.

Isak is being compared to an Arsenal legend

Arsenal were keen on the Swede during his time at Real Sociedad. They were heavily linked with him in the January 2021 transfer window, however, he ended up joining Newcastle in the summer of 2022.

Isak has been excellent under Eddie Howe since joining the Magpies. He has drawn comparisons to Thierry Henry for his long-legged style, power, pace and finishing ability.

While Newcastle have FFP concerns hanging over them, they may be convinced to accept a bid for a player who has struggled at times to stay fit. Unfortunately for Arsenal, they likely don’t have the money to make a move for Isak happen this January; surely not without significant sales.

Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal

Arsenal are poised to move for a striker in January, not necessarily Isak; as they look to solve their woes in front of goal.

The Gunners recorded 61 shots in their last three games but mustered just a single goal, with a different forward starting in each fixture.

With fans clamoring for a new frontman and the team looking devoid of a cutting edge up front, Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in new blood this month. That is necessary to keep Arsenal’s title hopes alive.
