About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona had huge luck as they signed Luuk de Jong on a fee of just €1million just before a few hours of the transfer deadline. It was one of the surprise moves as nobody in the football world had any clue about this transfer. Late at night news came of Barcelona discussing a transfer for Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid. And a few hours later the deal was done, with the Catalans making another announcement of signing Luuk de Jong.

The dutchman made his name while playing for PSV Eindhoven as he scored 112 goals in 204 appearances. And after spending 5 years at the Dutch club, de Jong made a transfer to Spain signing for Sevilla in 2019. And playing for the Spanish side only scored 19 goals in the last two seasons.

Following his poor form in front of the goal, Sevilla wanted to get rid of him this summer. While the fans also didn’t like him very much playing for their side. As a result, Sevilla listed him for transfer this summer. And only his former club PSV Eindhoven was keeping tabs on Luuk de Jong all the summer.

But despite keeping such long eye the Dutch side didn’t make any move or bid for signing their former player. And Sevilla were going out of patience as it was the transfer deadline and no club was ready to sign de Jong.

But late at night, Barcelona made a move for signing Luuk de Jong after loading off Griezmann to Atletico Madrid. Making the deal the Catalans signed the dutchman on a season-long only paying €1million. Yes, €1million, Sevilla were such desperate to load off de Jong that they agreed to let him go at such a low price. While Barcelona also have an option to make the deal permanent after the loan deal ends next summer.
