Spanish giants send official offer to sign 21-year-old Chelsea striker

Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has been linked with a permanent move away from the club. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spanish outfit Sevilla are keen on signing Fofana. He also claims that Sevilla have already submitted an official proposal to sign him.

The 21-year-old struggled for regular game time at Chelsea last season. Subsequently, he was sent out on a season-long loan to Union Berlin at the start of this season. However, it now seems that the Blues will now bring him back to the club and hopefully sell him to a suitor.

Sevilla might be able to provide Fofana ample opportunities

The striker needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action. A move to Sevilla would be ideal for him if they can assure him of game-time. Fofana is unlikely to get regular opportunities at Chelsea any time soon.

The Blues signed Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku at the start of the season. The former has been quite mediocre, while the latter had been injured until last month. Chelsea are now looking to bring in a quality striker in the coming months. This will only push David Fofana further down the pecking order.

Sevilla are a big club and they could help him develop further and fulfill his potential. Regular football in La Liga would accelerate his development and he will have plenty of opportunities to join an even bigger club in future if he manages to impress in the Spanish league.

Recent Performances of Fofana since joining Chelsea

Fofana joined Chelsea in January 2023 for a reported £7 million fee. In half a season, the Ivorian played only 4 games, 3 in the Premier League and 1 in the FA Cup. He amassed just 112 minutes of football across the 4 games. Subsequently, at the start of this campaign, he was loaned out to Union Berlin for the season.

So far for the Bundesliga club, Fofana has played 17 games across all competitions, scored twice and provided just a single assist. This is quite a disappointing return for a striker. Hopefully the young striker can do better at a new clubs as rumors to Sevilla intensify.
