Bayern Munich are said to be in the pole position to sign teenage midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa this summer. The 17-year-old has garnered interest from multiple clubs as Aston Villa try to hold on to him.

Chukwuemeka has not yet played for the senior team, however, the youngster has made it to the bench in their match against Leicester City in the Premier League. With the Villains comfortable in the league table, it is only a matter of time before he gets his debut.

Many top clubs have shown interest in signing the youngster who has likened himself to Paul Pogba. Though only 17, he is already an imposing figure in the midfield and is very composed under pressure.

“We have one right now, probably the best 16-year-old in England, Carney (Chukwuemeka).” – Villa CEO Christian Purslow

Can Bayern Munich land Chukwuemeka?

Chukwuemeka only signed his professional contract with Villa in the summer of 2020 and has a contract till 2023. Villa is eager to extend his contract and is waiting for the youngster to turn 18. However, reports do suggest that Bayern Munich could snap up the midfielder.

Bundesliga in general is known for being an excellent place for youngsters to grow and make a name for themselves. English players have found this route very appealing in recent times with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellinghman making their moves to Germany at a young age.

Jude Bellingham in particular has a lot of similarities with the Chukwuemeka. Both players have played in Birmingham and are midfielders.

Bayern Munich is undergoing changes in their team with many players set to leave the club. They recently announced the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann as their manager from the next season and will be rebuilding their squad.

Players like David Alaba will leave at the end of summer and this will limit their options in the midfield. So bringing in a dynamic midfielder could help to future-proof the area.

Aston Villa will be trying to keep hold of one of their young prospects. However, when a club like Bayern Munich comes knocking on your doors it is very hard for both the player and the club to reject the offers.
