Bayern Munich has found their replacement for Hansi Flick. The German champions will bring RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann to Bayern in the coming summer on a 5-year deal.
The move however will cost Bayern a record fee as per the outlets. RB Leipzig will receive up to €25 million as compensation. This will be the highest ever fee for a manager in the sport.
Nagelsmann is a highly rated manager in the world. He has turned the eyes of many big clubs in Europe particularly Tottenham Hotspurs, who wanted to bring in him in place of the sacked Jose Mourinho.
BAYERN’ MANAGERIAL SITUATION SOLVED WITH NAGELSMANN
The German giants are positioned to win a record 9th consecutive Bundesliga title this year. However, their highly successful manager Hansi Flick has asked the club to terminate his contract, which Bayern has agreed to. This apparently happened because of both a strained relationship with their sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
Hansi Flick was very influential in steadying the club when Nico Kovac was sacked. He turned the team into one of the best in the world as they won the Treble last season. While this season they were knocked out from the Champions League and the DFB Pokal, the German manager still has an excellent win percentage with the club.
THE YOUNG GERMAN
Bayern has been in pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann for some time. The club was interested in the 33-year old after his impressive start with 1899 Hoffenheim and later with RB Leipzig.
Though Nagelsmann has not won any major trophies as a manager, his abilities are visible. He led the Hoffenheim team towards their first-ever Champions League campaign and the RB Leipzig side to the semifinals of the Champions League.
Nagelsmann is an excellent tactician who is very adaptive. He loves to tweak his tactics and formation according to his opposition. At 33 years of age, he is also very popular with the players and has been excellent in nurturing young talents.
He has been dubbed as Baby Mourinho by one of his former players. Nagelsmann could set the record for the transfer of a manager. RB Leipzig, with whom he is contracted till 2023, is holding out for a very high fee, which has been accepted by Bayern. The young German will officially join as the club’s manager on July 1st of the year.
In bringing in Nagelsmann, Bayern will be able to start their next rebuild. The move also will weaken a domestic rival like RB Leipzig, which has been a tactic often used by the Bavarians in the past with extreme success.
