Chelsea academy product really wants to leave the club; Chelsea ask for £25 million

Reports claim that Trevoh Chalobah wants to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. According to  TEAMtalk, Chalobah wants to move to Bayern Munich in the January transfer window. The report has claimed interest from Bayern in the Englishman, who can operate as a central defender or as a midfielder. TEAMtalk also claimed that the 24-year-old himself is keen on speaking to Bayern. Chelsea are willing to sell Chalobah and are likely to accept £25 million in transfer fees for him.

Eric Dier a hindrance in deal for Chalobah

A deal for Chelsea academy product Chalobah may not materialize because of Eric Dier. Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed to sign Dier from Tottenham. Dier, just like Chalobah, can also play in midfield, making the two very similar in terms of what they’d bring to the squad.

The argument in favour of the Tottenham center-back is that he is 29. He is more experienced than the Chelsea academy product and could make an immediate impact. Moreover, Dier knows Bayern striker Harry Kane well, so that could be a factor.

However, one thing in favour of the 24-year-old is that current Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel rates him highly. He was the one who gave a young Chalobah ample of opportunities in the first team.

Chalobah has failed to live up to expectations at Chelsea

In the 2021/22 season, Chalobah shot up to the scene at Chelsea. He made 20 appearances in the Premier League under Tuchel that season. He was a rock at the back and looked like he would stay at the heart of Chelsea’s defense for years to come.

In the next season, he kept going strong, playing 25 PL games. However, things started to go south for him from thereon. Chelsea made some big signings in defense which pushed Chalobah down the pecking order and a serious thigh injury this season made things worse.
