Bayern Munich also assesses mental strength before signing any player

Bayern Munich looks beyond physical abilities and team player before choosing which player to sign for the club. This practice has helped Die Roten (The Reds) to become the best in the world.

Why does Bayern Munich assess the mental strength of a player?

Bayern Munich is one of the most successful clubs in Europe. In the recent past, they have won it all including UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and numerous Bundesliga seasons. It is a dream for any football player to play at the Allianz Arena. But only a few players have been successful to become a part of the team’s setup.

But it takes more than excellent goal-scoring and dribbling skills to be considered for a place in the Die Bayern (The Bavarians). Beyond physical strength, there is a mental ability that is also considered. A player must be mentally not only, fit but must be in excellent shape.

On this topic, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić talked to a sports magazine. In a recent interview, he said:

“An FC Bayern player must be convinced, of FC Bayern and also of himself. We need professionals with strong character, who bring everything to the table in terms of football and who fit in with our family club. They have to be guys who are greedy and stay greedy. We need winners, and winners with empathy, because at the end of the day, a team is all about cohesion.”

Salihamidžić suggested why assessing a player’s mentality is so important. He further added:

“We analyze our team in every detail during a season, and at the end, there is one question: which guys do we need in which positions? If you take the transfer market period this summer as a basis, you can see that we paid particular attention to mentality this time.”
