Former Tottenham man Aurier eyeing a move to Arsenal

After terminating the contract with Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day, Serge Aurier is currently eyeing a move to Arsenal as per the report in Sky Sports

The 28-year-old joined the north London club back in 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain for around €25 million. The Ivory Coast international has endured tough times since making the move to the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports, after terminating the contract with mutual consent with Spurs on Tuesday, Aurier wants to play in England and Arsenal have been informed of his availability. The Gunners bought Takehiro Tomiyasu on the deadline day to resolve their right-back issue and following his arrival it would be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta will want to make this move or not.

Current Premier League Standings

The defender was linked with a move to Italy, France, Russia and Turkey. However, there wasn’t any offer on the table for the 28-year-old. So, both parties have decided to part ways as the right-back is not in the plan of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Aurier linked with a move to Arsenal:

Signing Serge Aurier could turn out to be a bad move for Arsenal. The Ivorian has shown rash defending and plenty of mistakes during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, signing the 28-year-old would be a huge gamble from Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have opted to go with youth this summer, but Aurier will be the opposite of that. The right-back’s arrival will not entertain the Emirates faithful as he was the player of their arch-rival.

Meanwhile, after a disastrous start to the new campaign, Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways after the international break. The Gunners will have to play against Norwich City and Burnley next before meeting Tottenham. So, the Gunners fans will be hoping to earn all six points from the next two games.
