Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Plans Exclude Pedri Deal, According to Romano

Pedri

Liverpool plans to buy new players in the summer, but it seems like they won’t be getting Pedri. They’re ready to spend a lot of money under Arne Slot to avoid any issues when he comes to Anfield. However, despite having money to spend, they won’t be making a surprising move for Barcelona midfielder Pedri, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Pedri has quickly risen to fame with Barcelona in the last four years. Especially after winning the Golden Boy award at just 18—an impressive achievement for any player. His excellent performance has led to rumors of him moving to other clubs abroad. Liverpool has been showing interest since he became a regular player for Barcelona. However, Romano thinks that won’t happen for several reasons.

Pedri Commits to Barcelona: No Liverpool Move Likely

In his Daily Briefing, Romano mentioned that despite rumors linking Pedri to Liverpool, he’s staying loyal to Barcelona, and there’s no chance of him joining the Premier League team.

“Despite what has been reported elsewhere, I can guarantee that there is nothing between Pedri and Liverpool, or between Liverpool and Barcelona for Pedri – the situation is completely quiet. Pedri is really happy and always super committed to Barcelona, and he’s a crucial part of the project at the Nou Camp.” Romano said

In the past, there were talks about Pedri possibly moving to Liverpool for around £70 million. However, Barcelona already has a fantastic young team with players like Pablo Gavi, Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, and more. Giving playing time to these young talents could start a new era for Barcelona. Similar to the successful period in the mid-2000s when they had stars like Xavi, Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Lionel Messi winning many trophies.

We’re not sure how much money Slot will have for transfers in the summer. But Liverpool’s midfield is currently very strong. They might focus on other positions to stay competitive for the title next year.
