Inter closing in on a deal for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Inter Milan are reportedly getting closer to finalizing a deal for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as per the report from Fabrizio Romano (via TRANSFERmarketWEB).

The 25-year-old joined the Eredivisie giants back in 2015 from the Barcelona youth team. Soon after, the Cameroonian showcased his talent at the Johan Cruyff Arena and quickly secured the number one spot under Eric Ten Hag.

The shot-stopper was banned from playing football for 12 months after consuming a prohibited substance. The club stated that the player took it unknowingly as he was sick. So, it was reduced down from 12 months to nine months.

According to the report, Onana is very close to joining Inter next summer for free. The player’s contract with the Dutch side will finish at the end of this season and both parties could not agree on a new deal. The report further stated that although the deal hasn’t been finalized yet, it is increasingly likely that the Cameroonian will play at the San Siro stadium next season.

Inter set to sign Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana for free:

Signing Onana for free will be a very good purchase for Inter Milan. The player has already showcased his talent in the Eredivisie and Champions League. So, producing the same in Serie A should not be hard for the Cameroonian.

Samir Handanovic is currently 37-year-old and his contract will end at the end of this season. So, bringing in a new younger keeper will be the right decision from Nerazzurri and the Cameroonian will fit into that criteria perfectly.

Meanwhile, after having a great start to the season. Simone Inzaghi’s side are currently sitting second in the table with 13 points in five games. The Nerazzurri will be hoping to keep their winning run going when they welcome Atalanta on Saturday evening.
