Inter Milan set to complete deal with Nahitan Nandez

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Inter Milan are most likely to agree on personal term with Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez. Milan has become the transfer hub this window as both AC Milan and Inter Milan have been very busy. Both the team stood shoulder-to-shoulder at the top of the Serie A until December. Things took a turn after that and the coveted Scudetto reached San Siro Inter Milan’s hands.

Achraf Hakimi was Inter’s highest-paid player and lived up to his name. He always had a teasing cross or vicious strike in him. Up and down the right-wing, Hakimi was a major contributor to Inter’s success. However, at the end of the season, Inter decided to let go of their top-paid players in what they called was a cost-cutting measure. The decision did not go well with players and the coaches leading to the resignation of Antonio Conte.

After that, it was the wing-backs, Ashley Young and Hakimi. This sent Inter in search of wing-backs who could replace the elite pair. Denzel Dumfries and Hector Bellerin were on Inter’s radar along with Marcos Alonso and Emerson. But now, they seem to have found the ideal replacement closer to home.

Inter see another Hakimi in Nandez

Nahitan Nandez joined Cagliari at the start of the 2019/20 season. He is known for his speedy runs down the wings, through the lines and behind napping defences. He is a very aggressive player who does not shy away from sliding into a challenge. Nandez identifies himself to be more of a box-to-box midfielder who is after the ball at all times.

Inter plan to use his tenacity to run the show down the wings. He may not be as lethal as Hakimi in front of goal but his defensive abilities will surely be a boost for Inter.

Will the deal go through?

Cagliari are open to the idea of selling the 25-year-old Uruguayan who was a part of the national team the Copa America. Inter could use Radja Nainggolan, who has been phenomenal for Cagliari, as a counterpart if needed.

However, Hector Bellerin has expressed his interest to leave Arsenal and move to Inter. Even if either of the deals goes through, Inter have assured a Ferrari on their right-wing.
