Amarjit Singh joins East Bengal on loan from Goa

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Amarjit Singh will play for SC East Bengal on loan from FC Goa for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign. The Torchbearers were also interested in other players such as Alexander Romario and Naveen Kumar. But the two would be staying at the Goan club.

Head coach Juan Ferrando has been satisfied with the performances of Kumar and Romario and as a result, they won’t be leaving Goa at least this season. Additionally, Naveen is a back up for youngster Dheeraj Singh.

East Bengal have been successful in negotiations with sponsors Shree Cement and have already begun preparations for new transfers.

East Bengal got themselves a young leader in the form of Amarjit Singh

East Bengal were on the verge of disqualification for next season in the Indian Super League but the involvement of West Bengal CM sorted the issue. The Kolkata gaints started their registration of players on Sunday itself.

According to Times of India, Goa have agreed a loan deal for Amarjit Singh with the Bengal heavyweights. The 20-year-old central midfielder joined the Gaurs from Jamshedpur FC in 2020. Since then, he made just 6 appearances for his new club.

Glan Martins has established himself as one of the potential candidates to fill the central midfield alongside Princeton Rebello. As a result, it would be a better decision for Singh to play on loan at another club. He was the skipper of the Indian U-17 squad that hosted the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and would be keen on playing alongside teammate Komal Thatal at Jamshedpur.

However, the departure of Ishan Pandita to Jamshedpur would leave a void in the forward position. Pandita made just 11 starts despite scoring four goals last season as a super sub.

But the good news would be that Naveen Kumar and Romario Jesuraj won’t be leaving the club due to their importance in the team.
